Sea-salt vs. Saline solution
Even though most artists have their own after-care procedures, I would like to make something very clear.
Saline solution has no healing properties for the aftercare of a piercing.
There are no benefits to using saline other than the convenience of using it for a mid-day rinse if potable water is not accessible.
YOU NEED TO USE SEA-SALT!!! Make sure that you mix the salt with Warm Distilled Water.
Regular tap water may contain chemicals to keep it clean, (City Water).
Natural Spring Water has a very high volume of minerals and may cause irritation.
If you would like more information about the benefits of using Sea-Salt instead of Saline,
go on-line and you can get more detailed information…

General Piercing
· Always wash hands with antibacterial soap before proceeding
· Clean all the dried secretions from jewelry with soap and water
· Rotate jewelry through piercing while washing
· Rinse thoroughly
· Mix 1/8 tsp. Sea Salt with 4 oz warm distilled water
· Perform Sea Salt soak twice daily (morning and evening for 5-10 minutes)
· Secretions from piercing are normal

Oral Piercing
· Rinse mouth with solution made from ½ Listerine to ½ distilled water
for approximately 1 minute after you eat, drink, kiss, etc.
· Relieve swelling with ice for the next 3-5 days
· Mix 1/8 tsp. Sea Salt with 4 oz warm distilled water
· Rinse with Sea Salt solution twice daily for 1 minute for first 2 weeks
· The grayish tint to your tongue will go away in 3-5 days
· No Smoking or sucking!! This will make your tongue swell and get very sore!
· Please Note: If you fail to follow these instructions you will increase your chance of infection.

Male and Female Genital Piercing
  • Wash hands thoroughly before you start the cleaning process. (Very Important)
  • Clean all dried secretions away gently with an antibacterial soap such as Dial.
( Use a pump style soap to avoid cross contamination.)
  • Rotate jewelry through the piercing slowly and continue to clean with the soap and water.
  • Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a clean single use towel.
  • Perform sea-salt soaks for 5 to 10 minutes, twice a day until the piercing is healed
  • If your jewelry is in your urine stream,( Prince Albert, labia et..) Make sure to wash the piercing
after you urinate with either a fresh baby wipe or at least rinse with clean water and pat dry.

* General healing time for genital piercing varies. You can expect approximately 6 to 8 weeks.
Depending on location and how well YOU take care of it.
Hygiene is very important due to the moisture content surrounding the piercing.
YOU DON'T WANT STINKY HOLES!!!.

** Secretions from the piercing are common and usually clear to milky looking, and some what watery.

*** If you notice that the secretions are starting to get a little color to them (a tint of green or yellow.)
Call Flesh Chamber West and I will go through a simple process with you to remedy the problem.
Don't Be Alarmed.

DO NOT apply any ointment to the piercing. Petroleum based products such as
A&D™, Neosporin™, and Bacitracin™ can trap bacteria into the piercing and potentially
cause STAFF, VIRAL AND BACTERIAL infections.
These ointments ARE NOT FOR DEEP TISSUE WOUNDS!!!
DO NOT use rubbing alcohol or peroxide on piercing.
This can destroy new cell tissue that is forming to heal the piercing.
